IT infrastructure monitoring

Notory monitors your infrastructure right inside the same platform that already tracks your assets - no separate monitoring tool required. Two paths feed the same time-series store: manual hosts are checked agentlessly for reachability via TCP connect or HTTP GET, while hosts running the installable metrics agent additionally report CPU, memory, disk, network, load and uptime. Alert rules watch over both and notify you as soon as a threshold is breached and stays breached.

Agentless host checks

A periodic worker job checks manually added hosts via TCP connect or HTTP GET and determines a reachability status (up, down, unknown) plus optional HTTP latency - no agent required, just point it at a host.

Downloadable metrics agent

For deeper visibility, install the lightweight agent: it reports CPU usage, memory, disk, network, load and uptime, authenticating via a per-host enrollment token.

5-minute and 1-hour rollups

Raw samples from both sources are automatically aggregated into 5-minute and 1-hour rollups. Retention jobs prune old data automatically, so your metric history never grows unbounded.

Alert rules that avoid flapping

Alert rules are evaluated against the latest metrics and only fire once a threshold stays breached for a configured duration - not on a single spike. Triggered alert events raise notifications.

In practice

Example: an MSP monitors client infrastructure without extra tooling

A managed service provider watches a client's servers with the metrics agent for CPU, memory, disk and load, while network printers and switches are monitored agentlessly for reachability via TCP and HTTP checks. An alert rule fires when a server's disk usage stays above the threshold for 15 minutes - the team gets notified before storage actually runs out.

Questions on monitoring & operations

What does the Monitoring & operations module cover?

The module watches hosts as time series: manually added hosts are checked for reachability via TCP connect or HTTP GET, while hosts running the agent additionally report CPU, memory, disk, network, load and uptime. Raw data is condensed into 5-minute and 1-hour rollups, and alert rules fire when a threshold stays breached.

Do I need to install anything?

Not necessarily. For manual hosts, a target address is enough - Notory periodically checks reachability via TCP connect or HTTP GET, no agent involved. For deeper metrics such as CPU, memory, disk, network, load and uptime, install the lightweight, downloadable metrics agent, which authenticates via a per-host enrollment token.

How do alerts work, and which tier includes the module?

Alert rules are continuously evaluated against the latest metrics and only fire once a threshold stays breached for a configured duration - a single spike is not enough, which avoids alert flapping. A triggered rule raises an alert event and a notification. The Monitoring & operations module is included from the Professional (Pro+) tier.
