Time tracking with leave and sickness in one system

Notory Hora is the compliant working-time module of the Notory family: time, leave and sickness interlock - in one database. The system blocks entries during approved leave, counts sick days correctly against target hours and checks working time in real time against German working-time law. Because you define your own fields, teams and working-time models, Hora maps your business exactly the way it runs.

Clocking & time account

One-click clock in/out and breaks with the server timestamp as the authority, structured back-dated corrections with a mandatory reason and audit trail, plus an optional time account with rolling balance, capping and carry-over.

Working-time compliance

Real-time checks of maximum hours, breaks (30 min from 6 h, 45 min from 9 h), 11 hours of rest and Sunday, public-holiday and night work. Warnings to managers and employees, all limits configurable (section 7 ArbZG).

Leave under the BUrlG

Leave entitlement with pro-rata twelfths, qualifying period, a multi-step approval workflow and a team calendar. Carry-over and forfeiture by 31 March with documented, court-compliant duty-to-notify.

Sickness under the EntgFG

Six-week continued-pay tracking, a configurable certificate requirement and credit-back of leave days for sickness during leave (section 9 BUrlG). Certificates are protected as special-category data and stored encrypted.

Team & absence calendar

Teams with permissions, approval and minimum staffing. The calendar shows colleagues only as "absent" in a privacy-compliant way, while managers see the category. Cover can be enforced.

Coupled with IT & assets

As a Notory module you book time directly onto assets, service requests and projects - the technician timesheet is created where the work happens. A standalone time-tracking tool cannot do this.

Why Notory Hora

Three things others do not do cleanly

  • Active compliance automation. Not just recording, but warning in real time and - if you want - blocking, with escalation levels by severity.
  • GDPR, self-hosted or hosted. Run Hora on-premise or as a hosted instance - including encryption, tenant isolation and a tamper-evident audit.
  • ITAM coupling. Time directly on assets, tickets and projects - the bridge between time tracking and IT inventory that pure HR tools cannot build.
In practice

Example: a team with flexitime and field service

A business runs office teams on flexitime and field service on trust-based hours. Target hours are stored per weekday and contract with history, public holidays come from the right regional calendar. If someone clocks over 10 hours, Hora immediately warns the employee and team lead. Leave requests run via the team lead with enforced cover; if someone falls ill during leave with a certificate, the system credits the days back automatically. At month-end a tamper-evident, auditor-ready export is ready.

Questions on time tracking

Is the time tracking compliant with German working-time law?

Yes. Notory Hora checks working time in real time against the German Working Hours Act - maximum hours, breaks (30 min from 6 h, 45 min from 9 h), 11 hours of rest as well as Sunday, public-holiday and night work - and warns both managers and the affected employee. All limits are configurable (collective or works agreements under section 7 ArbZG).

Does Notory reconcile leave and sickness correctly?

Yes. Time, leave and sickness interlock: during approved leave no time entries are possible, sick days are counted correctly against target hours, and anyone who falls ill during leave with a medical certificate gets those leave days credited back under section 9 of the Federal Leave Act.

How is the leave entitlement calculated?

Under the German Federal Leave Act (BUrlG): minimum leave by working week, pro-rata twelfths on joining and leaving, a six-month qualifying period, plus carry-over and forfeiture by 31 March - including documented fulfilment of the employer's duty to notify, so remaining leave lapses in a legally sound way.

Can I book working time directly onto IT assets and tickets?

Yes. As a Notory module, Hora couples time directly to assets, service requests and projects - a technician timesheet is created where the work happens. A standalone time-tracking tool does not offer this link between time tracking and IT inventory.
